Breakfasts and Lunches are free for all students in all buildings for the 2021-2022 school year. The free meals are part of the National School Lunch Program through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The expanded program started last school year to ensure students receive nutritious meals at the height of the coronavirus pandemic.
Perkins Local Schools families do not need to do anything to get the free meals – students only will be charged for extras and optional items, such as a second drink or snacks.
To get the free meals, students must take the FULL meal, which includes three of the five components of a meal – a meat or meat alternative, bread or pasta, fruit or fruit juice, vegetable, and milk. If a fruit or vegetable is not taken, the students' accounts will be charged à la carte prices.
For breakfasts, each plate must have at least three items and one item must be a fruit. Four items must be offered to students each breakfast. If the plate does not contain these items, the student will be charged à la carte pricing; if more than four components are taken, extras will be charged.
Please be advised, breakfast and lunch menus are subject to change due to availability of food.
