Photography services at Perkins Local School District will be handled by a new vendor during the 2022-2023 school year.

On Wednesday, the plan to hire First Choice Photography of Elyria was shared with the Board of Education by Jeff Thom, principal at Briar Middle School, who headed a committee of district administrators and staff members to find a new school photography provider.

With the goal of improving the photography and access to photos by parents, families, and the schools, the committee sought proposals from and interviewed several school photography companies over the past two months.

First Choice was the unanimous pick of the committee, Mr. Thom said. Parents and guardians will notice a difference in the service and quality, he said.

No longer will there be order forms or cash exchanged for pictures, but instead all ordering will be done online. There also will be a preview portal for parents to review photos before ordering them. All orders will be shipped directly to students’ homes and not to schools.

First Choice also offers drone photography and a free photo booth that can be used once each year by each building for dances or activities.
