Pirate Marching Band Heads To State Competition

PHS Marching Band

Not only will you get to see another halftime show by the Perkins High School marching band at the Pirate football playoff game on Friday, but that halftime performance will serve as the final warm-up to the competition show the band will perform at the Ohio Music Education Association on Saturday in Medina.

The band will present its 2021 halftime show, “Together We Rise,” featuring the music of Andra Day and Macklemore. The show features soloists Kaden Canfield on mellophone and Matthew Chandran on alto saxophone. Our 2021 Auxiliary Captains are Alyssa Wood, Kaleb Shultz, and Isabel Roberts.

The Perkins Marching Band is under the direction of Christopher Zanella and Jacqueline Schroeder, with assistance from Katie Wells, Percussion instructor Ryan Garmin, and Guard Instructors Stacy Gilbert, Ashley Jones and Sarah Rumbutis. The band is under the direction of field commanders Timothy Wensink and Gabe Cummings.

The Pirate Marching Band's OMEA performance is at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Parking is $5 per car, and tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and school-age children, and free for children under 5.
