Perkins High School alum Eric Kochendoerfer is coming home. On Thursday, the Perkins Local School District Board of Education hired the 1996 PHS grad as head boys basketball coach for the 2022-2023 season.
Coach Kochendoerfer has spent the previous six seasons as head coach for the Margaretta High School girls basketball team, where he had a 105-24 record and was District Coach of the Year three times.
He previously spent 11 years on the Perkins High School boys basketball coaching staff.
PHS Athletic Director Ted Sturzinger told Board members that Coach Kochendoerfer will set high standards for student athletes.
“When looking for a head coach, Coach Kochendoerfer checks all the boxes,” Mr. Sturzinger said. “He will build genuine relationships with all players, he is a great communicator, he will provide a great experience for all players, and he will develop the program.”
The Board voted 5-0 to approve his contract.
“It’s good to be home,” Coach Kochendoerfer told the Board. “Thank you.”
