Briar Teacher To Be Honored By Erie County Board Of Developmental Disabilities

Leslie Drury, Intervention Specialist at Briar Middle School

Briar Middle School intervention specialist Leslie Drury has been honored with the Above And Beyond Award from the Erie County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

The award recognizes people who have demonstrated integrity, creativity, and flexibility in the delivery of services to individuals with developmental disabilities.

She was nominated for the award by Briar Principal Jeff Thom and Perkins School District Director of Special Education Christine Guss.

“Mrs. Drury is relentless in her efforts to support our students here at Briar,” Mr. Thom said. “She is a pioneer and leader in best practices who always puts kids first.”

In a letter to Mrs. Drury, Erie County Board of Developmental Disabilities Superintendent Carrie Beier congratulated her and thanked her for “all you do to inspire, empower, and support individuals and their families in Erie County.”

Mrs. Drury has been an intervention specialist at Briar for seven years. She has been invited to The Building Bridges Banquet in October when she will be honored.
